Visit to the UK by GWM (Malawi) Director, Patrick Chimbali
Supporting in-depth Bible teaching in
Malawi's villages and urban townships
Background
God’s Word Ministry UK was established in 2022 to support the work of our sister organisation in Malawi. GWM UK's role is to promote and raise funds for the Bible teaching work there.
The work in Malawi started in 2013, when a young pastor, Patrick Chimbali, returned to his country after training in South Africa. Deeply concerned that much Christianity in his country has very weak Biblical roots, Patrick felt the urgent need to foster more in-depth teaching of the Word in Malawi’s villages and urban townships. The work was formally constituted in Malawi as God’s Word Ministry in 2018.

GWM began in the village of Chiole, near Patrick’s hometown of Ntcheu in central Malawi, when Christian Chief Emmie Matonga invited him to start regular Bible teaching under the village’s largest tree. Now, more than a decade later, over 1,000 people have heard and believed the Biblical gospel as a result. Over 250 have been discipled and are able to share the gospel message, and 20 have completed an 18 month Bible training course.
A second base in the eastern town of Mulanje was established in 2020, when some of those taught at the big tree returned to their home town with the message that true Bible teaching changes lives.
Now, there is such a hunger for in-depth teaching in Mulanje that plans are being made for a permanent Bible teaching institute.

Note from the Malawi
Executive Director
Malawi has no shortage of preachers of God's Word. Yet, all too often, poor moral integrity is the order of the day even among leaders. As a result, we do not see Christian character being developed. Why? Surely the message of the cross must shape the character of its recipients through consistent and thorough Bible teaching.
It was against this background that in December 2013, and joined by Hastings Kadaya in mid-2014, we were led to establish God's Word Ministry. GWM’s objective is simple but challenging - to bring more in-depth Bible teaching to the villages, and urban townships of Malawi.
Your support in this will be highly appreciated.
